How Bluebox partnered with Boardman to deliver the digital backbone for Europe’s first Cycling Performance Experience Centre.

Having worked together since 2015 across several development projects, Bluebox and Boardman had already established a collaborative relationship built on innovation and trust.


So when Boardman unveiled their most ambitious idea yet in 2018, a first-of-its-kind Cycling Performance Experience Centre in Evesham, they turned to Bluebox to help realise the vision.


Designed to bring elite-level cycling technology to passionate enthusiasts, the centre combines wind tunnel testing, biomechanics, physiology analysis, and specialist equipment within one integrated facility.


But delivering that experience required more than cutting-edge physical infrastructure. It required an intelligent digital platform capable of managing bookings, coordinating staff and specialist facilities, integrating third-party systems, and delivering performance insights to visitors.


Working closely with the Boardman team, Bluebox designed and developed a bespoke platform that became the operational backbone of the Performance Centre, seamlessly connecting scheduling, logistics, and customer insight into a single ecosystem.

About the Performance Centre Application

The Boardman Performance Centre combines several specialist disciplines within a single facility, including:

Each activity requires specific facilities, specialist staff, and equipment. The platform therefore needed to coordinate complex schedules while maintaining a seamless experience for visitors.


Advanced algorithms enable the system to allocate appropriate rooms, align staff expertise, and sequence activities within a visitor’s session.


Operational complexity is further managed through automated handling of staff availability, holiday planning, sickness cover, and facility downtime, ensuring minimal disruption to bookings.

The Challenge 

Creating software for a world-first performance centre meant navigating both digital and operational complexity. The system needed to coordinate facilities, staff, equipment, and customer bookings in real time, while remaining intuitive for users of all experience levels.


Off-the-shelf platforms lacked the flexibility required to deliver this vision. Instead, a bespoke approach was necessary to fully support the unique demands of the centre.

Bluebox delivered a fully integrated platform that connects the entire performance centre ecosystem.


Visitors can book sessions online, staff can manage scheduling efficiently, and performance data is captured and presented through a secure portal that allows cyclists to review and analyse their results.
