Winchcombe Reclamation

Winchcombe Reclamation Ltd is a family run business based in the North Cotswold town of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. Set up four years ago by local builder Don Cook, it is a reclamation yard specialising in the local building materials, particularly Cotswold stone products. Using their building background their stock is carefully sourced, cleaned and redressed; ready to use. This means builders and the public are able to buy a clean, instantly useable reclaimed material. Their knowledge of local and traditional buildings and their construction methods also means that they are able to source and match materials as a service.

In addition, a chance meeting has resulted in a fantastic working relationship with a family run quarry business in Mumbai, India. The stone extracted matches the varying tones of our local Cotswold Stone, but due to a higher quartz content the stone is more durable and less likely to be frost damaged than Cotswold stone. The quarry also has artisan stonemasons that are able to hand carve the stone using skills and techniques that used to be common in the Cotswolds 50 years ago but are now sadly lost due to mechanisation. A range of pools, water features and ornaments are available but the relationship means we can offer a truly (and competitive) bespoke service. The products are sold under the Isbourne Trading brand available exclusively from Winchcombe Reclamation Ltd.

In the last year Winchcombe Reclamation Ltd sponsored and constructed a show garden at Malvern’s Spring Garden Show. The garden was a walled courtyard with shaded loggia area and featured Isbourne Trading products such as a pool, fountain and solid Alabaster pots. The garden was awarded a silver Royal Horticultural Society medal. It has been a busy year as a new concept; a bespoke summerhouse made entirely from reclaimed materials is shortly to feature in an article in the Sunday Times Home section.
